The IBM PC XT
The IBM PC XT (Model 5160) restoration project. Released in March, 1983, the PC XT was IBM’s first PC that shipped with an internal 10 megabyte hard drive, at an original list price of $7,545 ($19,400 in 2019 dollars). This photo gallery catalogs the complete tear down and build up sequence of a 35+ year old IBM PC XT, sourced from multiple PC XT computers/components. Also included are screenshots of its cold boot and ultimate successful connection to the Internet in the year 2019 – with no hardware or operating system components manufactured any later than the 1980’s.
